George Spann was born on April 26, 1949 in Brooksville, MS to Dorothy aka Willie Mac (Hairston) Spann and George (Little Man) Spann.

He attended St. Louis Public Schools graduating from Beaumont High School in 1967. After high school, he attended Forest Park Community College and Harris Stowe State College.

He loved looking for his family, reading philosophy, and jazz music.

He left behind the love of love and best friend, Chereyl Helene (Turner) Spann, his loving children, and adoring grandchildren.

Uncle George was my uncle, "father", motivator, critical friend, and unconditional supporter.  He was a man of pride and honor that dedicated his life to his family. I am eternally blessed to have had his profound presence in my life. Uncle George's sense of duty separated him from the common man. He was wiser, hipper, and more passionate than the average man. His countless sacrifices for our family have helped to build and strengthen so many lives. Every day I reflect on things he said and important things he taught me.  He taught me the truest, purest definition of love: through highs and lows, good times, bad times, bad decisions, and tough lessons... LOVE IS WHAT IT DOES!!! I can say that my uncle's love for me was immeasurable and incomparable. I cannot remember a time that I did not know that I was loved and supported. We all love and miss you tremendously.  Until we meet again XOXO
